Prevention – not restriction. Tips & tricks to prevent falls in the home.

Integrating the use of daily living aids such as grab rails, transfer seats, and even canes is not a negative reflection on one’s independence or ability to live as others do. Rather, these items boost one’s independence as they choose to walk the pack of prevention, daily. For example, installing a raised toilet seat with rails reduces the risk of bathroom falls and the corresponding stress that comes from worrying that a fall may happen. It allows an individual to live with less worry and more security.

Choose to use aids when you need them and be smart about preventing falls in the home. Choose a mindset that focuses on prevention for the sake of your positive well-being, not focusing on restriction or feeling trapped.
